35 YEARS AGO BOND CAME BACK

2016 marks the 35th Anniversary since the publication of John Gardner’s first James Bond continuation novel. Licence Renewed.

Between 1981 and 1996, John wrote fourteen James Bond novels, and the novelizations of two Bond films. The agreed brief was “to bring Mr Bond into the 1980s”. JG not only brought Bond into the 80’s, he took him well into the 90’s as well, with great success.

Here we are in 2016 and Johns’s Bond novels are still being read and discussed amongst fans of the James Bond literary canon. We would like to thank everyone who enjoys John’s work for your continued support.

Below is a link to Clip from a 1981 ATV interview of John Gardner featuring the promotional 007 Saab ‘The Silver Beast’ that has surfaced on YouTube. We are looking for more clips etc. to share.

THE WAIT IS OVER

The Gardner James Bond continuation novels are finally available in the US in E-Book format.

As Phoebe Taylor at IFP informed me:

"We are delighted to report that 11 of John Gardner’s 16 Bond novels will be available as e-books in the USA on AmazonKobo and Sony. They will also be available from Apple at some point in the hopefully-not-too-distant-future.

The available books will be:

Licence Renewed

Icebreaker
Role of Honour
Nobody Lives for Ever
No Deals, Mr. Bond
Scorpius
Win, Lose or Die
Brokenclaw
Licence To Kill
Goldeneye

These are the titles that are currently available in paperback in the USA, published by Pegasus. Pegasus are set to publish the remaining 5 titles (The Man From Barbarossa, Death Is Forever, Never Send Flowers, Seafire and Cold) in paperback in 2014, and we will release our ebooks to coincide with their release."

NOVEMBER SEES FINAL 4 PUBLISHED

Yes it's time for the final 4 Gardner Bond's to be published in paperback in the UK.

Never Send Flowers, SeaFire, GoldenEye and COLD are published on the 8th of November 2012 and are available from all good online and offline book stores.

Pegasus in the US have a bit of catching up to do starting on  May 1, 2013 with

Win Lose or Die  &  Brokenclaw.

Once again I would like to thank all the JG fans, Lisa Moylett, Corinne Turner, IFP, Swordfish, Orion Books, Pegasus Books, The Book Bond, Sparetimedesign… well you all know who you are. Without you (and the support of my family and friends) this republishing venture would not have happened.

Though the Bonds will be all back out there again it does not mean that we will neglect to update you on things like the Bond e-books, audio books etc. Watch this space and if you do not already 'Like' our Facebook page pay it a visit for the most up to date JEG news.

FIVE MORE FROM ORION - FIVE YEARS SINCE JG's PASSING

Five more from Orion

This update is brought to you by the number five. We are pleased to announce that ORION have published the next five of the John Gardner James Bond continuation novels and they all can be found at Amazon or other good online and offline book stores.

Five years ago we lost JG to heart failure on a beautiful summers day. I have written about this before so I need not go through the details of his death again. What I would like to say on this anniversary however is a huge thank you to all the wonderful people who have shown their love for his writing and especially the 'Bond' fans who accepted his continuation novels for the spirit in which they were written.

It is due to the support and love shown by you all (and you know who you are) that we have been able to bring JG's continuation novels to a new generation of Bond fans. In November ORION will publish the last of the series and this particular journey (apart from sorting US E-Books and we hope more audio books) will be finished. The next journey we hope, is to bring John Gardner's 'other' work out of the shadows and into the spotlight again. We want to show to new and old readers alike why JG was hailed 'A Master Storyteller'. Watch this space and again thank you all for your continued support, it makes what I do with the JG legacy worthwhile

TWO MORE BONDS FROM ORION

Two More BondsFirstly I would like to apologise for no update in June. Things just got the better of me and I was not able to put together anything in time. So we are now in July and the new edition Orion paperbacks of 'No Deals Mr. Bond' and 'Brokenclaw' are now available to order from Amazon. As sometimes we are a little slow in getting our updates together please check out our Facebook page 'The Complete Works of John Edmund Gardner'.

Here at John-Gardner.com we were saddened by the death of the great British comedian Eric Sykes. For those who know JG's early 'Boysie Oakes' books they will remember that Eric Sykes played 'Griffin' in the film of 'The Liquidator'. For the Gardner family Mr. Sykes will always be 'Griffin', the man who did Boysie's 'dirty work'. Interestingly the character of 'Griffin' was far removed from the sort of roles that Eric Sykes played for the most part. To see a clip of Eric Sykes in 'The Liquidator' follow this link. The man is a legend, may he rest in peace.

Once again thank you for visiting the site and please check back again soon for all JG news.

A NEW BOND AUTHOR, JACKET DESIGNER BLOGS & NEW HARDBACK EDITIONS OF THE RETURN & THE REVENGE OF MORIARTY 2012/2013

Well April is upon us and the good folks at IFP have announced that the new Bond author is William Boyd so the saga continues and we all wish him the best with the daunting task ahead of him. Here at JG.com we would also like you to check out the blog of jacket designer Dan Mogford  - www.danmogford.com and read his thoughts on designing the paperback jackets for Orion Books. We have had a lot of emails asking about the Gardner Bonds being available in the US as E-Books. This is something we are still working on so please check back to the site on a regular basis for updates.

Besides Bond news we are looking forward to the re-release in June this year of a new hardback edition of The Return of Moriarty (Pegasus Books) and in February  2013 The Revenge of Moriarty (Pegasus Books). We just love these new jackets and the embedded links will take you to Amazon UK where you can pre-order these editions. These editions will also be available in the US.

Have a great April, and thanks for visiting!
